Courthouse in Pennsylvania Selects TASCAM to Improve Audio Quality

In the heart of Philadelphia, the First Judicial District has undergone a significant transformation in its audio systems. The courthouse, home to the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County and the Philadelphia Municipal Court, now boasts an extensive installation of TASCAM TM-95GN microphones, designed primarily for conference and announcement settings.

The project, managed by Houser Audio of Aston, PA, was initiated to deliver the best possible microphone setup throughout the courthouse. TASCAM, a reputable name in the pro audio industry, provided the microphones on schedule and included all necessary components for the project.

The TASCAM TM-95GN microphones have been performing exceptionally well in the court system, making a significant difference in terms of legal decisions. Their key features, such as a cardioid or hypercardioid polar pattern, tailored for public speaking and meeting settings, have proven to be particularly beneficial. These microphones are designed to focus on the speaker's voice and reject off-axis noise, thereby improving speech intelligibility in reverberant or noisy courtroom environments.

Since their installation in April 2024, the microphones have been working well, and everyone in the courthouse is pleased with their performance. Judges appreciate the ability to switch the mic off for sidebar conversations, and the On/Off switch on the microphone's base allows for cleaner recordings and reduces feedback by enabling one to disable any unused mics.

The microphones are being used with phantom power supplied by an Alfatron matrix mixer. Each courtroom is equipped with six TASCAM TM-95GN microphones: one for the judge, one for the witness, one for the prosecutor, one for the defendant, and two for the jury booth. In addition, one Jury Assembly room was also equipped with TASCAM TM-95GN microphones.

The TASCAM TM-95GN microphones come with XLR cables, eliminating a significant amount of cable from the project. Their windscreen minimizes pops, and the gooseneck adjusts easily for ideal microphone placement. The base of the microphone is heavy and solidly weighted, ensuring optimal positioning.

The performance of the TASCAM TM-95GN microphones in the courthouse setting has been praised by judges and court staff. Their ability to improve voice clarity for transcription and recording, reduce ambient noise pickup, and provide more reliable speech capture during hearings and announcements has been instrumental in maintaining accurate records and clear communication among participants.

Recently, the court has deployed new TASCAM microphones to improve speech intelligibility in its various spaces, reflecting the positive impact these microphones have had on the court system. The TASCAM TM-95GN microphones have undoubtedly made a significant contribution to the court proceedings in the First Judicial District of Philadelphia, ensuring clear and effective communication for all parties involved.

The courthouse during its technology revamp outfitted various spaces with TASCAM TM-95GN microphones, enhancing the audio quality of product features such as court proceedings, announcements, and events. The introduction of these gadgets has led to improved communication and more accurate records within the First Judicial District of Philadelphia.
