Competitive Edge of VinFast in India's Electric Vehicle Market Found Outside the Vehicles

In India's competitive and rapidly evolving electric vehicle (EV) market, Vietnamese automaker VinFast is making waves with its holistic approach to after-sales service, charging infrastructure, and sustainable battery management.

Strengthening After-Sales Service

VinFast is partnering with local providers such as myTVS to establish 120 dedicated service centers across India. These centers will feature certified technicians, rapid diagnostics, and guaranteed availability of authentic spare parts. The service setup emphasises 24/7 availability, app-based appointments, and a dedicated toll-free support line, mirroring a successful model already implemented in Vietnam. VinFast plans to launch 35 dealerships by the end of 2025 in 27 major cities, further enhancing its sales and service reach.

Building a Charging Infrastructure

To alleviate "range anxiety", VinFast collaborates with local partners like RoadGrid to offer comprehensive after-sales charging solutions tailored for the Indian market. The company is also committed to battery sustainability through partnerships with firms like BatX Energies for responsible battery recycling and reuse, aiming to create a sustainable lifecycle from production to disposal. Given India's current limited number of public charging stations (29,277 as of July 2025), VinFast's ecosystem approach seeks to create a coordinated, manufacturer-backed network to support its EV customers.

Local Manufacturing and Dealership Expansion

VinFast's brand-building and operational base in India are reinforced by its newly inaugurated assembly plant in Tamil Nadu, which underpins their long-term commitment to India and supports local demands through production. This facility also positions VinFast as a regional export hub, further strengthening its strategic footprint across South Asia, Middle East, and Africa.

In summary, VinFast aims to differentiate itself in India by offering a holistic EV ecosystem combining robust after-sales service infrastructure, a growing charging network, and sustainable battery management, supported by local manufacturing and dealership expansion. This approach could secure long-term customer loyalty, emphasising trust over initial excitement or promotional tactics.
