================================================================

NIO's Firefly electric vehicle, the first model from the Chinese brand to be sold in Europe, is set to make its debut in the continent. The compact car boasts premium equipment and impressive specifications, positioning itself as a high-end urban electric vehicle (BEV).

Starting with Norway and the Netherlands, sales of the Firefly will begin on August 14. The company plans to expand its European presence by entering Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Denmark, Germany, and Sweden in late 2025 and through 2026.

The Firefly is powered by a 41.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a range of approximately 330 kilometers under the WLTP cycle. This range can increase to around 470 kilometers when used for urban driving. The vehicle supports fast charging up to 100 kW DC, enabling charging from 10% to 80% in just 29 minutes.

In terms of size, the Firefly measures approximately 4.0 meters in length and seats 2+3 passengers, making it a compact car well-suited for urban environments. It does not aim to position itself as an economy brand but rather as a premium high-end compact urban EV.

The Firefly comes equipped with advanced Level 2 driver assistance, featuring Horizon Robotics chips, and comprehensive EU-compliant safety systems. The vehicle's focus is on comfort, urban maneuverability, and a refined ride quality, rather than sportiness or dynamic handling.

While the Firefly's price in China starts at around $16,410, European prices may vary slightly due to market adaptation and premium positioning. The price in the Netherlands is expected to be 30,000 euros, while in Norway, it is set at 23,500 euros. The price in Germany is expected to be similar to that in the Netherlands.

In Norway and the Netherlands, the Firefly will be eligible for tax reductions, unlike in the Netherlands. NIO plans to reach Austria and Hungary before the end of 2025, further expanding its European footprint.

In conclusion, the Firefly offers a unique combination of specs, pricing, and phased European market rollout, illustrating NIO's strategic approach to offering a premium compact EV for urban drivers across Europe in the coming years.
