Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD establishes headquarters in Offenbach, Germany.
BYD Establishes German Headquarters in Offenbach
Offenbach, a city in the Rhine-Main region of Germany, is set to become the new home of BYD, the world-leading electric vehicle manufacturer. The company has leased a substantial office space of approximately 5,000 square meters in the GROW office complex at Kaiserlei, which offers direct connections to motorways, public transport, and the airport.
The GROW at Kaiserlei, one of the most modern office buildings in the region, comprises around 20,000 square meters of rental space. BYD will be using this space as the main headquarters for its sales, marketing, and administrative activities in Germany.
The strategic location of Offenbach, with its excellent transport infrastructure near Frankfurt Airport and motorways, and its proximity to an existing automotive cluster with Hyundai, played a significant role in BYD's decision to establish its German headquarters there.
The presence of BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles, is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and job market. The company will be adding a double-digit number of employees focused on sales, marketing, and administrative functions, strengthening Offenbach's position as an auto industry hub in the Rhine-Main region.
Offenbach's Mayor, Dr. Felix Schwenke, emphasized the importance of the settlement for the city, stating it would provide good jobs for its citizens. Maria Grazia Davino, SVP Regional Managing Director of BYD, expressed her excitement about the new headquarters location.
The GROW office building, where BYD's headquarters will be located, offers flexible room concepts, a DGNB-Gold certification for sustainability, and a rooftop terrace with a view of the Frankfurt skyline. The rental includes five floors in the office complex developed by NAS Invest and completed in 2023.
BYD is already active in several European countries and has been expanding its dealer network in Germany since the beginning of 2023. In addition to fully electric passenger cars, BYD also offers buses, trucks, and battery technologies worldwide. The company's move to Offenbach is a significant step in its European expansion.
The settlement of BYD in the GROW office building is considered a milestone for the project and another impetus for the location development at Kaiserlei. The city of Offenbach is looking forward to welcoming BYD and the opportunities it brings for the city's economy and its citizens.
