Celebration of Additive Manufacturing Achievements: Recipients of the TCT Awards 2025 Unveiled

The 2025 TCT Awards, a prestigious event celebrating excellence in additive manufacturing (AM), took place on Wednesday 4th June at the national Conference Centre, Birmingham. The ceremony, sponsored by ASTM International, Massivit, 3T AM, and Globus Metal Powders, saw the announcement of winners across various categories, with a focus on pioneering advancements in materials, software, hardware, and applications.

Carbon Forest Products Ltd made headlines by introducing the first powder-based 3D printed carbon and graphite components, pioneering the use of lignin as a carbon feedstock. This groundbreaking innovation was likely recognised in the Industrial Product Application Award, shared by Lithoz GmbH and Evove Ltd for their 3D printed ceramic membranes, reducing CO2 emissions by 80% and increasing production yield five-fold.

In the realm of hardware, the Zeus Hybrid Robotic Cell, merging AM and CNC post-processing, was the winner of the TCT Hardware Award - Polymer systems, sponsored by Lux Yours. Meanwhile, hybrd.AM took home the Hardware Award - Non-Polymer Systems, sponsored by ASTM, for their 3D printed cutting tools that reduce production times by up to 50%.

The Simulation Book For The Blind won the TCT Creative Application Award, while the 3D printed ceramic subperiosteal jaw implant, eliminating bone grafts and reducing healing time by 75%, took home the TCT Healthcare Application Award. The Tactile Learning innovation for visually impaired individuals, using 3D printing for stereo image models, was highly commended.

The Consumer Product Application Award went to Kibu Headphones, and the TCT Aerospace & Defence Application Award was awarded to the Mako Missile. The WAAM suspension strut tower won the TCT Automotive & Rail Application Award.

Fringe qualification, providing tracking and analysis for quality control management across entire fleets of metal AM machines, was the winner of the TCT Software Award. e-Stage for Metal + by Materialise was highly commended in the same category.

In addition to the main awards, the Women in 3D Printing Innovator Award, the Sanjay Mortimer Rising Star Award, and four new Inductees to the TCT Hall of Fame were also announced. Jonné Messer won the TCT Women in 3D Printing Award, and Abigail Duckworth was the recipient of the TCT Sanjay Mortimer Foundation Rising Star Award. The esteemed inductees to the TCT Hall of Fame included Neil Hopkinson, Sheku Kamara, Todd Grimm, and Wilhelm Meiners.

Though not directly related to the TCT Awards, other recent recognitions and industry developments suggest the types of innovations that may have been honoured at this year's event. For instance, Mantle won the 2025 SME Additive Manufacturing Start-Up Technology Award for its advanced metal 3D printing technology, highlighting innovation in metal additive manufacturing processes. The 2025 SkillsUSA Additive Manufacturing Competition recognised top student teams, reflecting an emphasis on education and workforce development in AM.
