Cars.com Names Top SUVs for Easy Car Seat Installation in 2023
Cars.com has released its 2023 Car Seat Fit Report Card, helping parents find family-friendly vehicles. Over 700 vehicles were tested, with six SUVs earning straight A's for easy car seat installation and spacious interiors.
The top-scoring vehicles include the 2023 Acura RDX, 2022 and 2023 Audi E-Tron, 2023 Chevrolet Equinox, 2023 Kia EV6, 2023 Volkswagen ID.4, and 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan. To earn an 'A' rating, a vehicle must provide ample room for the child and car seat without compromising driver and front passenger legroom. Additionally, the car seat Latch system must be conveniently accessible and easy to use.
The report card's release coincides with a significant trend among parents. Cars.com found that over 40% of parents buy a new vehicle after welcoming a third child. Nearly half of parents now bring their car seat to the dealership for a test fit before purchasing, a 15% increase from 2022. This shows parents' growing awareness and importance placed on car seat compatibility and vehicle size for their families.
The 2023 Car Seat Fit Report Card highlights the dominance of SUVs in providing easy car seat installation and spacious interiors. With over half of current parents owning an SUV, this vehicle type continues to be the most popular choice for families. Parents are increasingly prioritising car seat fit and vehicle size when making purchasing decisions.
