Cal Nano Lands $1M Deal for SPS Production Services in Military Brake Project
California Nanotechnologies Corp. (Cal Nano) has announced a significant deal for Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) commercial production services. The agreement, worth approximately US$1.0 million, is set to commence in 2026 and will be executed at Cal Nano's Santa Ana facility using the MSP-5 SPS machine.
The client, a Nevada-based company specializing in ultra-high temperature ceramic matrix composites, will utilise these services for a high-performance military brake application. Eric Eyerman, CEO of Cal Nano, sees this as the first commitment for SPS machine work, demonstrating the growing demand for advanced manufacturing techniques.
Cal Nano positions itself as a full-service manufacturing service provider. The company offers customers the ability to transition smoothly from research and development to larger-scale commercial production. The services will be carried out over an 18 to 24-month period, with the client joining a diverse customer base that includes Fortune 500 companies and startups from various industries such as aerospace, renewable energy, defense, and semiconductors.
The non-binding letter of intent, signed between Cal Nano and the Nevada-based company, marks a substantial step for both parties. For Cal Nano, it represents the first commitment for SPS machine work and underscores the company's role as a key player in advanced manufacturing. For the client, it paves the way for the production of high-performance military brake components using cutting-edge technology.
