Bremen's Internal Senator, Maurer, unearths and destroys approximately two metric tons of weaponry.
Firesale of Deadly Arsenal
Every passing year witnesses the annihilation of a mountain of weapons. Last year's destruction, held in October, was history repeating itself, as Interior Senator Ulrich Maurer announced the demolition of over 1.83 tons of weapons. This latest haul included hunting rifles, machine pistols, silencers, brass knuckles, machetes, swords, arrows, and numerous other weaponry types. In contrast, Bremen, in 2023, consigned an impressive 2.5-ton arsenal to the flames.
Maurer shared his thoughts, asserting, "The numbers have dwindled, and that's fantastic. However, two tons of weapons are still two tons too many."
Under the watchful eye of ten officers, these weapons were sent to the Bremen steel mill, where they were fed into the melting furnace and merged with molten metal. The operation went off without a hitch, under the tight surveillance of the authorities.
Handing Over Your Weapons
Residents of Bremen can dispose of their weapons at their local police station or the weapon office of the public order department, located at Stresemannstraße 48 in Bremen-Hastedt.
Maurer emphasized, "No one should have something like this at home, not even as a keepsake or collector's item."
