BMW Sales Surge 8.8% in Q3 After 18 Months of Declines

BMW has reported a significant turnaround in sales, with a 8.8% increase in the third quarter compared to last year. This is the first rise in sales for the company in a year and a half, following five consecutive declines.

BMW delivered 588,300 cars in the third quarter, despite a decrease of 0.4% in China to 147,100 cars. This dip was less severe than the almost 30% drop in the same quarter last year, which was attributed to brake problems from supplier Continental. The sales growth was also boosted by a 13% drop in sales in the same quarter last year due to these issues.

Sales of electric cars fell by 0.6% to 102,900, which could be due to customers waiting for the launch of the New Class next year.

BMW's sales for the year are up, driven by strong growth in Europe and the USA. In the USA, BMW sold 104,200 cars, a 24% increase despite tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump. Through the first three quarters of 2025, BMW sold 275,385 vehicles in the U.S., representing an increase of 8.5% compared to the same period in 2024. The core brand BMW grew by 5.7% to 514,600 cars, while Mini increased by a third to 72,400 cars, and Rolls-Royce reported a 13% increase to 1,304 cars. In Germany, BMW sold 72,900 cars, a 12% increase, and in Europe, it sold 239,600 cars, a 9% increase.
