Axxès Unveils 4G Tollboxes and Digital Services at Transport Logistic 2025
**Axxès Unveils New Electronic Toll Solutions at Transport Logistic 2025**
At this year's Transport Logistic trade fair in Munich, Axxès, a French toll specialist, is showcasing a new generation of electronic toll solutions. The highlight of Axxès' presentation is "Lucy", a digital hub that unites all Axxès services, offering a central platform for logistics companies, transport companies, and toll operators.
One of the key features of Lucy is the new On-Board-Unit (OBU) from Axxès, which uses 4G technology for stable, fast, and secure data transmission. This upgrade is particularly significant as it prepares for the upcoming shutdown of the 2G mobile network, a transition that companies like Axxès might focus on to ensure continuous functionality without relying on obsolete infrastructure.
In addition to Lucy, Axxès is also presenting a new toll box offer for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, named "Méditerranée". This toll box uses DSRC technology and enables automatic toll fee settlement in France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. The Méditerranée toll box is available through the German mobility startup maut1.de.
Transport Logistic 2025 is not only about electronic toll solutions. Trailers (or semi-trailers) and truck superstructures are also showcased, with Krone focusing on digitalization with electrification. Suspension, vehicle networking and communication, and temperature-controlled transportation are among the other topics discussed at the fair.
The trade fair also presents an uptrend in optimism despite cost pressure, according to the sentiment barometer. Companies like BTK are aiming for a sustainable and digital future, while the Klemm-Mappe DIN A4 is presented by the company Klemm. Coaches such as double-decker and luxury coaches are also featured, and alternative drives (general) and truck superstructures are topics at IAA New Mobility World.
As the shift towards modern technologies such as 4G and 5G continues, it is expected that companies will need to upgrade their devices, implement software updates, and ensure infrastructure support for a smooth transition. However, specific details about Axxès' approach to this transition are not yet available.
In the broader context of electronic toll solutions, the introduction of the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) in Switzerland is significant, as it simplifies toll payments across multiple countries using a single on-board unit. This shift could potentially influence the development of more advanced and network-agnostic toll solutions.
