Auto manufacturer Mercedes aims to unveil 15 electric vehicles by the year 2027.

Mercedes-Benz is set to significantly expand its electric vehicle (EV) offerings over the next few years, with new models planned across three market segments: Entry, Core, and Top-End.

The Entry Segment will feature models based on the MMA platform, designed for compact and entry-level EVs. In the Core Segment, the main volume models will use either the MB.EA or EVA2 platform, which are tailored for mid-size electric vehicles that balance range, performance, and luxury.

The Top-End Segment will be home to luxury and performance EVs, with models based on the VAN.EA platform for larger vehicles, and high-performance AMG models on the dedicated AMG.EA platform.

The new strategy allows Mercedes-Benz to tailor electric drivetrains and vehicle architecture to different market demands and vehicle classes, ensuring a broad spectrum of the electric vehicle market is covered, from affordable luxury to high-performance models.

In the Top-End segment, both the E-Class and S-Class are set to receive new electric models in both sedan and SUV formats in 2023. Additionally, five more electric models are planned in this segment for 2027, including new generations of people carriers—the VLE and VLS—as well as a Maybach luxury van.

A new electric GLC, based on the MB.EA platform, is expected to be available in 2023, while an electric CLA, designed primarily for electric vehicles but also accommodating hybrids, is already available for order.

Looking ahead to 2026, an electric CLA Shooting Brake variant will be introduced. By 2027, Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce several new models, including a possible electric C-Class estate version and a new electric C-Class sedan on the same MB.EA platform.

Two placeholder slots for new models in 2023 suggest the next generations of the compact SUVs GLA and GLB. Additionally, two standalone full-electric models from Mercedes-AMG's sports car division are planned, based on the new AMG.EA platform.

The company's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offering systematically according to segment and performance requirements is evident in this lineup strategy, although specific model names and exact launch years within 2023 to 2027 have not been disclosed.

  1. Mercedes-Benz will offer entry-level electric vehicles in the Entry Segment, designed off the MMA platform.
  2. The automotive industry and technology will collaborate to create mid-size electric vehicles in the Core Segment, using either the MB.EA or EVA2 platform.

  4. The expansion of electric-vehicles in the automotive industry, such as the electric GLC and CLA, will include high-performance AMG models planned by Mercedes-AMG's sports car division in the coming years.
