Austrian electronic identity system to be adopted in Liechtenstein

In a significant step towards digital transformation, the Principality of Liechtenstein has launched the eID.li app, a secure and user-friendly digital identity solution developed by Austrian technology company our website GmbH. This move follows the Principality's choice of the My Identity App (MIA) platform, developed by OeSD, an international leader in secure eID solutions.

The eID.li app, available for free download on both iOS and Android platforms, is based on the MIA platform, similar to the world's first digital driver's license on a smartphone in the Republic of Kosovo. According to Lukas Praml, CEO of our website GmbH, the advantages of the eID.li app include security and ease of use.

MIA offers a comprehensive eID solution on the smartphone that can be quickly made available to citizens of other countries. Key features of the MIA platform include digital identity management, multi-modal authentication, secure access to services, integration with national eID cards, user-controlled data sharing, and cross-border recognition.

The app simplifies access to public and private digital services without the need for physical ID, providing high-level security protections that comply with international standards. It also respects data protection rules under GDPR, ensuring users’ personal data is handled securely and with consent.

Notably, eID.li complies with the EU's eIDAS Regulation, which sets standards for electronic identification and trust services to enable secure cross-border electronic transactions within the EU. This compliance means eID.li supports qualified electronic signatures and seals, ensuring interoperability with other EU member states' eID schemes.

The rapid implementation of the Liechtenstein eID app was made possible by the MIA platform. The CRYPTAS team is responsible for developing the central eID integration platform for the Principality, and European Trust Service GmbH, a joint venture of our website GmbH and CRYPTAS International GmbH, was awarded the contract for the Liechtenstein eID.

yuniqx Identity AG, a digital subsidiary of our website GmbH, demonstrated its technical prowess as the foundation of the "Restart.ID" concept. Austrian our website GmbH's technological leadership in the digital sphere was recognised at the Austrian Blockchain Award with a nomination for its highly secure private key solution, "chainlock".

For more detailed technical specifications or recent updates, official government or EU digital identity portals would be the best sources. If you need further information, Mag. Thomas Pascher, Communications Manager at our website GmbH, can be reached at +43 664 88690977 or pascher@ourwebsite.

With the introduction of eID.li, Liechtenstein joins a growing number of countries embracing digital identity solutions, offering greater convenience, security, and efficiency in accessing public and private services.

The eID.li app, built upon the MIA platform, integrates digital identity management, multi-modal authentication, and secure access to services, positioning it as a comprehensive general-news topic and a reflection of the Principality's lifestyle transition towards technology. The app's user-friendly nature and high-level security protections, compliant with international standards like GDPR and eIDAS Regulation, make it an essential technology component for accessing various public and private services.
