Apple's Smart Glasses: Tim Cook's Obsession Set for 2025 Launch
Apple CEO Tim Cook is reportedly fixated on developing a pair of smart glasses, with recent reports suggesting he's 'obsessed' with the idea. The tech giant is said to be working on these glasses, which will require an iPhone for functionality and leverage AI, particularly Siri and voice commands.
Apple's smart glasses are expected to hit the market around 2025, initially without full AR displays. Instead, they'll focus on camera and audio functions, similar to the Ray-Ban Meta models. The glasses will offer multiple frame and material options, positioning them as a fashion accessory akin to the Apple Watch.
The company is late to the foldable phone and VR headset markets but has since addressed this with the Apple Vision Pro. Despite competition, there's a demand for stylish, feature-rich smart glasses from Apple. The glasses will reportedly feature a camera, microphones, normal and sunglasses lenses, and an LED light for recording. They'll also boast AI features, cameras, audio capabilities, navigation apps, and integration with Apple Intelligence and Siri. The chip used will be a customized version of the S chip from the Apple Watch, optimized for power efficiency and multi-camera control.
Apple's smart glasses, rumored for some time, are expected to launch in two variants, with the first (N50) targeting a 2027 release and the second slated for as late as 2028. The market awaits Apple's take on stylish, feature-packed smart glasses to compete in this growing segment.
