Apple, Samsung Delay Smart Glasses Launch Amidst Intense Competition
Apple has temporarily halted the launch of Vision Air to prioritize the development of meta glasses, aiming to compete with Meta's offerings. Meanwhile, Samsung has delayed the launch of its Project Moohan until October 22, with registrations set to take place a week prior.
Apple's shift in focus comes as the tech giant works on at least two types of meta glasses, led by a dedicated team. These products are seen as a direct response to Meta's (formerly Facebook's) meta glasses. The project, codenamed Moohan, is a joint effort between Apple, Google, and Qualcomm.
Samsung's Project Moohan, initially slated for September 29, has been pushed back to October 22. The launch will initially be limited to South Korea, with only 100,000 units produced. Registrations for the product will occur between October 15 and 21. Samsung aims to expand the project to other markets gradually. In other news, leaked images of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series have surfaced.
Prices for Apple's meta glasses, codenamed Moohan, are rumored to fall within the €1,500 to €2,400 range. Both Apple and Samsung's delayed projects indicate intense competition and innovation in the meta glasses market.
