Annual Gathering in the Field of Your Institution's Industry, Happening in 2023
The Web Summit organization recently hosted the Industry Conclave 2023, a conference focused on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the design industry. The event, titled "AI in Design Business - A Disruptor or An Enabler?", was held at an unspecified institution and offered a valuable platform for discussion, learning, networking, and showcasing talent.
Industry leaders, designers, and students gathered to explore the role of AI in design, with panels from Interior Architecture and Design, Communication Design, Fashion Business Management, and Fashion Design.
Neha Sachar, Senior Consultant- Branding and Communications at Thevasa, emphasized the importance of staying informed about AI developments, acknowledging that while the conversation about AI's role in design is worth having, it's too early to draw conclusions.
Priyamwada, Founder and Principal Architect of Common Ground Practice, stated that AI is changing design processes and it's essential for architects to understand these changes and be equipped to handle them. Shweta Agarwal, Senior Manager Buying and Planning at Reliance Brands Limited, asserted that AI should be viewed as a supplement to human creativity and empathy, capable of replacing manual labor with more efficient work methods.
Notable attendees included Aditi Garg (Creative Head - Boat Lifestyle), Akhil Chopra (Sr. Creative Director- Schbang), Shivani Gupta (Principal Designer- House of Lalittya), and others. Shiva Vishwanathan, the Founder and Design Head + CMO of Catenate.io, spoke at the event and emphasized the importance of staying relevant, adapting to change, and looking ahead to the future.
The event featured discussions on how AI is being utilized in the design industry and its future applications. Siddharth Vohra, Founder and Creative Director of The Matic Studio, expressed that AI is initially a disruptor, making people uncomfortable, but becomes an enabler after people get used to it. He also discussed the use of AI in the design industry today and its potential future applications.
Aditya Mani, CEO of YOLOgram Style, suggested that AI empowers humans to be disruptors, creating innovation and moving up the value chain, making life easier but more complex as we figure out new ways to use AI.
Aditi Garg, Creative Head of BoAt Lifestyle, emphasized that investing in a design system enabled by AI can add value to marketing campaigns and product launches, and presents opportunities for economic development in the education landscape, supporting personalized learning, data analysis, automating processes, and interacting with students.
The conference also showcased the talent, preparedness, and exposure of the institution's students to the industry and design community. Overall, the Industry Conclave 2023 provided insights into the evolving design ecosystem and potential employers' expectations, making it a valuable event for all those involved in the design industry.
