Anadolu Isuzu Acquires Majority Stake in SamAuto for Central Asia Expansion
Anadolu Isuzu, a Turkish joint venture, has agreed to acquire a majority stake in SamAuto, a Uzbekistan-based commercial vehicle manufacturer. The deal, expected to close in the coming days, aims to boost efficiency, diversify product offerings, and tap into new markets in Central Asia.
Founded in 1996, SamAuto produces a wide range of commercial vehicles. Under the agreement, certain SamAuto models will be added to Anadolu Isuzu's product range, while some Anadolu Isuzu models will be manufactured at the SamAuto plant in Uzbekistan. This strategic move will significantly expand Anadolu Isuzu's production and distribution network in Central Asia.
Anadolu Isuzu, established in 1965, is a joint venture between Anadolu Holding, Itochu, and Isuzu. It operates 35 dealerships in 45 countries and reported annual revenue of ₺18.9 billion ($454.49 million) in 2024. The company exports vehicles to more than 45 countries and aims to position Uzbekistan as a strategic production hub following the acquisition.
Anadolu Isuzu will acquire up to 75.2% of SamAuto's shares, marking its return to Turkish ownership. The acquisition is expected to enhance efficiency and diversify product offerings. Following the news, Anadolu Isuzu's shares rose over 5%.
