Alpina has passed away.
BMW is set to assume the brand rights of Alpina from 2026, but that doesn't mean the end of vehicle production in Alpina's hometown of Buchloe. The Bovensiepen family, the owners of Alpina, have revealed their new, ultra-exclusive project - the Bovensiepen Zagato.
At the FuoriConcorso on Lake Como, the Bovensiepen family unveiled their latest creation, a four-seater coupé co-developed with the renowned Italian design house, Zagato. Andrea Zagato, head of the traditional design house, joined Andreas Bovensiepen to present the new vehicle.
The addition of Zagato to the project is seen as a strategic move to boost the new brand, as the Bovensiepen family builds on the solid customer base gathered by Alpina over the decades. The prestigious name Zagato will be discreetly placed in lettering along the side air intakes, while Bovensiepen will feature prominently on the trunk lid.
The Bovensiepen Zagato, which boasts a carbon-fiber body with a stainless-steel front grille and integrated rear spoiler, showcases both the signature styling elements of Zagato, such as the double-bubble roof, and the familiar BMW family look.
Powered by a BMW M4-derived 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six engine, the car produces between 603hp and 611hp, with a torque of 700Nm. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed exceeding 186mph. The lightweight titanium exhaust system, developed in collaboration with Akrapovič, reduces back pressure and adds to the vehicle's agility.
Each Bovensiepen Zagato requires over 250 hours to build, featuring more than 400 unique parts. The production will be strictly limited, with pricing and availability to be announced later. The car offers extensive personalization options for both the interior and exterior.
The Bovensiepen Zagato represents the first project from the Bovensiepen family's new venture following BMW's acquisition of Alpina. More information will be released as it becomes available. ntv.de will continue to report on activities in Buchloe.
