With a current usage rate of 18%, the fax machine is hanging on by a thread. A stark contrast to the past, when a whopping 33% of companies still relied on it regularly. Bernhard Rohleder, the CEO of Bitkom himself, commented that the fax has become a symbol of antiquity, obsolete in the face of digital advancement.
All In On Email 📧
Emails- the original digital fleet messenger - have found their way into every German office. Like last year, all companies still hold email communication in high regard, with 100% frequent or very frequent use. External and internal communication via smartphones follows close behind with 94%, and the classic landline phone hovers at 93%. Video conferences are picking up steam with regular usage by 67% of companies, while messenger services have caught the attention of 66% of businesses for internal and external communication.
Testy Waters for AI Adoption 🤖
Here's where we hit a snag. Despite the potential benefits, AI adoption remains a contentious issue among German companies. Employees' skepticism and companies' hesitation to jump on the AI bandwagon to see how other companies fare first are some reasons that hinder AI adoption. On top of that, 50% of surveyed companies feel that AI's deployment in business processes might not be worth the hassle.
However, Rohleder cautions against a cautious and timid approach with AI, arguing that late adopters risk falling behind. It's time for companies to start incorporating AI solutions, train employees, and embrace this revolutionary technology head-on.
