AirBaltic Cancels Thousands of Summer Flights Due to Engine Issues
AirBaltic has been forced to cancel 4,670 flights this summer due to engine maintenance issues with Pratt & Whitney engines. This affects around 67,160 passengers and impacts 21 routes with reduced frequencies or complete cancellations.
The cancellations are due to global supply chain issues and maintenance restrictions, with Pratt & Whitney struggling to meet their obligations on time. AirBaltic continues to plan flights to over 70 destinations and supports affected customers through rebooking or full refunds. Some of AirBaltic's A220-300 fleet will remain grounded in 2025 as a result of the engine shortages.
Affected passengers can check their bookings, choose alternative connections, or request a refund from AirBaltic. AirBaltic is working with Pratt & Whitney to find a long-term solution to the maintenance problems. While no specific measures have been announced, typical airline responses to such situations include offering alternative flights, compensation, and improved communication.
AirBaltic's flight cancellations this summer due to engine maintenance issues have affected a significant number of passengers and routes. The airline is working with Pratt & Whitney to resolve the issue and is supporting affected customers through rebooking and refunds.
