4G LTE and 5G Access Point Names (APN) Settings for Android and iPhone Devices in 2022 by AT&T

In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of configuring AT&T APN settings on both Android and iPhone devices, enabling 4G LTE/5G data connectivity and MMS messaging on AT&T networks.

For Android Devices:

  1. Open the Settings app, then navigate to SIM cards & mobile networks (or Network & Internet > Mobile network).
  2. Select your AT&T SIM or mobile network.
  3. Go to Access Point Names.
  4. Tap Add or New APN.
  5. Enter the following details:
  6. Name: ATT APN (or NXTGENPHONE)
  7. APN: NXTGENPHONE
  8. Proxy: (leave blank or unspecified)
  9. Port: 80
  10. Username: (leave blank)
  11. Password: (leave blank)
  12. MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net/
  13. MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
  14. MMS Port: 80
  15. MCC: 310
  16. MNC: 410
  17. Authentication Type: (leave default, usually none or PAP/CHAP)
  18. APN Type: default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri
  19. APN Protocol: IPv4/IPv6
  20. Save the new APN and select it.
  21. Restart your phone to apply changes.

For Apple iPhone Devices:

  1. Go to Settings > Mobile Data (or Cellular) > Mobile Data Network (or Cellular Data Network).
  2. Enter the APN details:
  3. APN: internet
  4. Username: (leave blank)
  5. Password: (leave blank)
  6. Leave other fields as default.
  7. Exit and restart your iPhone for settings to take effect.

Please note that Android devices typically use NXTGENPHONE as the APN value, while iPhone uses internet. If you encounter issues after setup, reboot the device and double-check the entries for typos.
